Video Description

An anime girl named Kyoto Kasuma has to prove herself worthy of becoming the lead character in her own intellectual property by completing an existence trial with the help of Super Sheep (Super Sheep in Convention F-3) and Ruff Bup (The Grand Lamppost Heist), but after Super Sheep give her a little bit of stick, a fight breaks out between Kyoto and him.

For This Project I wanted to delve into the world of Japanese animation (also known as “Anime”) because it was a sub-medium I wanted to take a shot at in a similar vain to what I did last year with “The Grand Lamppost Heist” where I took inspiration from cartoons of the 1920s and 1930s, this choice has allowed this project to stick out from everything I’ve done up until this point in terms of both tone and the style of animation employed this time around.

Now Then, About That End Of Year Exhibition

Ok, since COVID stopped being a thing people cared about, the college are able to go ahead and put on an end of year exhibition (which I believe would have happened last year and in 2020 if COVID 19 wasn't around to put a halt on those plans), so I'll also be displaying my work there for around two weeks in the summer. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few pictures and videos on this website of my work at this event recorded, put them on this website and talk a little bit about how it went before the deadline hits. (even though if the internet didn't go kaput at college, the deadline would have passed about a day ago)

I'm actually looking forward to this, as besides the time when The Grand Lamppost Heist got entered into the UAL Creative Origins showcase last year, we never really got a chance to showcase our work to the wider world outside of places like YouTube, so it'll be interesting to see what people who aren't my friends, tutors and/or family actually think of the characters and story I've made here.

I plan on adding in both my banner containing all my main characters (which itself was inspired by the "Everyone Is Here" banner Nintendo made for Super Smash Bros Ultimate) and the key art I did for Kyoto Kasuma herself next to the screen that'll play my video on loop during the exhibition:

The reason I want to add in these pieces of art to my display is twofold, one is because I want to make sure people are made aware of the existance of the entire Slamination Studios back catalogue of IP (even though characters like Guyzo haven't had a single appearance yet) and because I figured it was a good way to show off my cartooning skills at the same time.

With that said, until I get to take screenshots of my display (which depending on whether the display is up before the friday deadline, might not even get to happen), I'm pretty much finished here for the time being.
